
Yesterday night, our family went out to have dinner together. We were supposed to go to Liwanag Park first but due to some delays my mother decided that we eat first. She asked me what the nearest Mang Inasal at our place is so I told her the branch at Ortigas extension near Lifehomes. We arrived there and there are a lot of unbussed tables so I asked one of the staff to clean and setup tables good for 11 people, while my mother and brother was at the counter station. He answered yes, but I can see him doing other staffs instead of doing what I requested. I asked the manager again to have someone else do it. And of course, she answered yes also. I went to the counter also to tell my mother what I want and I ordered for Pancit Malabon and Tuna Inasal Pie. My mother ordered the rest of the food. The counter staff who was wearing plain white shirt without name plate, informed us that our orders would be served after 20 – 25 minutes, and she said further that they want their food to be served hot and fresh, which was quite good. The counter staff is smiling all the time, which is really good. Order taking was done already and the table setup was not yet done. We still have to wait before we were able to seat, poor and slow service already.
Around twenty minutes later, the ordered chicken arrived already. Then that is the time the counter informed us that Pancit malabon is no longer available. I was really furious when I heard that because, they didn’t even bother to call the order to the kitchen, or they didn’t even check the receipt on what the orders are. The counter is suggesting changing it to Halo-Halo!?! What a good replacement, right? So, I told her, I would just take a look at the menu to find a replacement for my order. So, I order for something else and another staff told me, we’re close already, it’s not available. This really made me more furious because if the proper procedure was done, I should have ordered different item at the start. And don’t have to wait for 20 minutes and just find out in the end that I can’t have what I ordered. The manager approached us and apologized which was good but I no longer want to order anything.
Few minutes later, my mother’s order, ginataang kangkong was arrived and when we look at it, it has three leaves only and the rest was stems! (I forgot to take a picture of it). So, anyway, my mom just asked to refund it also. Then, my brother followed up the dessert for my son. The counter went back and said that it was not included in the order, but upon looking at the receipt it was there. Wow! What a presence of mind.
At the end, there was not an effort from the management to give us something because of the bad service they have given. My mother even mentioned that the last time something not good happened in another branch, the manager gave her something as a complimentary. The manager didn’t even thank us when we went out of the restaurant.
So, bottom line, I don’t recommend eating at the Mang Inasal branch near Life homes along ortigas extension. Just find another branch if you are craving for mang inasal chicken.
