A Fight for a Friend
I have known Ma. Isabel Damasco for more than ten years now. Better known Sabie by her classmates and colleagues but for us, her friends coming from the fast food restaurant where we all meet, we fondly call her as Mabel. She is actually the godmother of my son Jerome James. We don’t see each other as often but I know we are so bonded. That’s why when she got sick December of last year I was really worried. She was diagnosed to have a low platelet counts and when asked to rest for a month, I think, and she was prescribed with steroids that would help increase her platelets. It did have a positive development but at the same time she is gaining a lot of weight. I have supplied her tawa-tawa, a known herbal plant to help regulate the platelet count, as best as I can. Check ups and blood test continues until finally the doctor said she suffers from Idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP).
“ITP is the condition of having an abnormally low platelet count (thrombocytopenia) of no known cause (idiopathic). As most incidents of ITP appear to be related to the production of antibodies against platelets, immune thrombocytopenic purpura or immune thrombocytopenia are terms also used to describe this condition. Often ITP is asymptomatic (devoid of obvious symptoms), however a very low platelet count can lead to visible symptoms, such as purpura (large bruises), or more seriously, bleeding diathesis.”
The medication with steroids continues until recently she has to undergo a blood transfusion and it was helpful to increase her platelet count. But this is not an assurance that her platelet count will no longer go down, so check ups, blood tests and transfusions would be continued.
In line with this I am asking for your help to help promote the Facebook page of my friend by liking and sharing it so it would reach more visitors that might be able to help her either by monetary donation or blood donations. This page was created by her friends and I am here to support it too. The details on how to send donations is also listed on the page. If you are kind enough and would like to send donations through paypal, I would gladly accept it and give it to her in your behalf. Just send me a message at facebook and I will get back to you as soon as possible, here’s the link to my profile.
Thank you in advance for you help.
