Father’s day

Posted in Occasion  by redamethyst 6 Comments

Today is Father’s day. This is the day to honor our dear father to celebrate the influence and role of a father in the society. It is as important as a Mother’s day though it is sometimes neglected and the date mistaken. In other countries including the Philippines, Father’s day is celebrated on the third Sunday of June, sometimes people would already greet fathers on the second Sunday of June which happened to my husband. He received several greetings already last Sunday.

Anyway, Father’s day was started by Ms Sonora Louise Smart Dodd a loving daughter from Spokane, Washington who was inspired by a Sunday sermon to give honor to her father also. As she said, if there is a mother’s day, there should also be father’s day. It happened in 1909. It was not easy to make this day official because it was gathering attention slowly. But in 1966, President Lyndon Johnson signed a presidential proclamation declaring the third Sunday of June as Father’s Day.

Here are some Father’s day dates in other countries

Updating this site

Posted in random blogging  by redamethyst 5 Comments

It’s already 20th of June and I just have 2 posts for My Red Hot Reviews. This site is supposed to house all the reviews that I will be doing and yet it has no decent post this June. There is no contest running that requires doing a blog review so I don’t know what to post here. Honestly, blog contests make this site busy. Actually, this is not the only site that’s sad because of few posts, my other blogs are also sad because I don’t update them often. Arrgghh.. What’s happening to me? Sometimes, I would have an idea to post here, but I am too lazy to do it. :D :D But now, hubby and son are already sleeping, and I am waiting for the 15 minute wash cycle of the washing machine so I decided to be productive. I have updated my blogs and I hope you will have time to check it out.

Lutong Macau

Posted in Food  by redamethyst 7 Comments

Who doesn’t love eating? I love eating and trying out new dishes and restaurants from time to time especially if the finances permits it. The latest discovery we have that turned out to be our latest addiction is Lutong Macau. Ever since I introduced this to my office mates they would often want to eat at this restaurant. Last June 3, my husband, son and I ate here. We ordered for:

Sizzling pork chop in tomato sauce
Diced chicken with sweet corn
Fish fillet in tomato sauce

Stir fried noodles with shredded meat

The food is really delicious, just don’t mind my pictures. Hehehe. The meats are tender and tasty. The vegetable is just perfect for the side dish. Though my husband didn’t appreciate much the pork chop he still thinks it’s good. Maybe because I think the tomato sauce is what we call “sarciado” here in the Philippines. It is very common. My son really likes the diced chicken and he had a taste on our own food and the noodles. Of course, I love our food. The rice serving is more than enough for me.

The rice toppings are served with buchi and red ice tea and costs Php 99.00 only or about $2. Stir fried noodles costs Php 240.00 or about $5 but the serving is more than enough for the three of us we even have take out. Their meal combo of Php99.00 varies from rice toppings, noodle soup and congee is available from 11 am – 5pm. Lutong Macau is located at Megamall G/F of Megastrip Building B. It is worth your time, money and taste. I’m sure you’ll end up satisfied with their food.
